MFL

Learning a foreign language provides an important understanding around other cultures and customs. A high-quality languages education should foster children’s curiosity and deepen their understanding of the World.

The MFL (French) curriculum is based on the 4 key skills sets of reading, writing, speaking and listening. This ensures that the children learn practical communication skills while developing their confidence in using target language in different forms. Underpinning this is a strong phonetics approach that supports student’s ability to speak and pronounce the target language with continually improving accuracy. In addition, students will develop their understanding of the grammatical aspects of language so that they are able to construct the target language in an increasingly independent way.

The MFL curriculum also aims to ensure that learning a language is fun and enjoyable. It will aim to create positive attitudes towards learning a second language.
