Whales - Mrs Forryan

Whales is our mixed Year 4 and 5 class. Mrs Forryan is the class teacher, supported by cover supervisor Mrs Keating and Teaching Assistant Mrs Dziopa. Our student teacher is Miss Taylor. There are currently thirty one children in Whales class.

The morning session starts at 8.45am until 12.15pm and the afternoon session runs from 1.00pm to 3.10pm.

In a morning, the children are taught the core subjects of English and Maths. During these sessions, the children can work either as a whole class, with their Kagan partner, independently or with an adult.

During the afternoon session, the children undertake topic related work which covers subjects such as history, geography, science, PE, music and art. These topics change either on a half-termly or termly basis. Additionally, year 4 children have weekly ukulele lessons and from February 2022, weekly swimming lessons will take place too.

PE sessions take place on Monday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons. On these days, the children should come to school wearing a PE kit including a plain white t-shirt, dark coloured shorts and pumps or trainers. Children can wear their school jumper on top of their PE kit if they wish. Library sessions take place on Fridays and the children use this time to change their home lending books. These books should be returned weekly so that their reading progress can be monitored by the class teacher.

Homework is given out on Fridays and should be completed on Seesaw by the following Tuesday. Homework includes a list of spellings to be learnt, a spelling activity and either an English or a Maths task. Children are expected to read at home each evening and fill in the reading diary on Seesaw.
