Tigers

Tigers is our year 3 and 4 class. Mrs Forryan is the class teacher, supported by our Teaching Assistants Mrs Haddouche and Mrs Keating. Our student teacher is Mr Crowther. There are thirty children in Tigers class aged from seven to nine years.

The morning session starts at 8.50am until 12.00 noon and the afternoon session runs from 12.45pm to 3.00pm.

In a morning, the children are taught the core subjects of Maths and English. During these sessions, the children can work either as a whole class, in small groups, or 1-1 with an adult.

During the afternoon sessions, the children undertake topic related work which covers subjects such as history, geography, science, PE, music and art. These topics change either on a half-termly or termly basis. Additionally, the year three children have a ukulele lesson on Tuesday mornings.

Whilst Covid-19 restrictions are in place, please can the children come to school in their full PE kit on PE days, which are Wednesdays and Thursdays - do not wear school uniform. Library sessions take place on Tuesday and Friday every week and children use this time to change their home lending books.

Homework is published on Seesaw every Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday. Homework includes a list of spellings to be learnt, a spelling activity and a Maths activity. At Hillside we love reading. We believe it is essential to our children's learning as it helps them to develop language skills and increases their knowledge of the world around them. Children are expected to read at home each evening and should return their home lending book on a regular basis.
